I had a system in my mustang about 4months ago but then took it out because my mid range woofers were starting to cut in and out. they are pretty much toast i've concluded, i think i messes up the voice coil some how. anyways, i'm looking to put a system back into my car now and was starting to look around and price out new sets of components. my last set were CDT's, CS 6.5inches. (i think not positive, they were the cheapest set i think from exige) i enjoyed listening the speakers a lot, they produced a full sound with a good soundstage and imaging. one think i'd like to have more of in the new set is a better mid range woofer. The CDT woofer would sometimes be pushed beyond its range. songs like dazed and confused by led zepplin would make the speaker crackle, even when new. i've also been looking into just replacing the mid woofers, since the tweeters and cross-overs are still good. i'm interested in trying a set of focals or dynaaudio, but they seem pricey, and would be in the top end of my budget. i'm looking to spend around 200- 300 on the new set, but would go more if it were truly worth the wait. what are your opinons?
