Caps do have a few purposes.
Such as:
-Filtering AC ripple
-Cross-overs (HPF)

I think he is wanting to know the mechanics of a capacitor. Not what they do but HOW they do what they do.

^^^As to that I couldn't tell you man.

That post, and links within, is THE, from the horses mouth, with math to prove, .....definitive answer.

Hope you read the wiring instructions for the battery bank better.

Well the two primary uses in electronics is to filter current, or store current like a battery (a very small one).

Now the big ones that say they're for car audio..... those have pretty much no use. They don't provide any significant amount of boost in power to your amps. And they are not nessecary due to every amplifier's power supply having internal capacitors. The amount of buffer needed for the supply current is already built in.

The intended use is a lot more complex than I think anybody here is really gonna be good for (not to insult anyone's knowledge lol). I know I sure as hell don't have the technical knowledge needed to get after what you're looking for. I don't think anyone else here, without having some hardcore experience, is gonna have the answers you're looking for...

Since links in my other post have proven to be a massive fail... A busted link provided within, was the best i had ever seen on the net.

This is a link where Richard Clark makes a good explanation where most of us can understand, tho you would have to REALLY REALLY want to know about caps to read it. I did, its interesting. he invented it, he surely would know.

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-electronics/1046719-why-you-dont-need-capac itor.html

Its as technical as it gets.

What do you want to know about a capacitor exactly? I'm an electrical engineer.

This will help in regards to using one for stiffening the power supply however:

Interesting that noone knows "who you think you are", but you know all about someone else. Well not interesting, just hypocritical.

Anyway.

I hope the second post was more informative than the first.

This time actually with Renegade on this one. Dmoney you sound like a douche in this thread. Yes renegade can sound condescending but the "I dont think you know who i am" comment is just too much.

Now the link renegade posted is actually really good. Just make sure you understand each lesson before going to the next. It will take a while to get through but well worth it if you really want to understand capacitors.
