The guy at my local shop says they're the best subs they sell & that they pound. Thoughts?

That very well could be the best sub they sell, but that doesn't mean it's even close to the best sub available.

I've never used that anything from that company so I can't comment on how that particular sub would sound.

There are three things wrong with the title of this thread.

1: These subs are not new.
2: Volfenhag will never be "king" of anything.
3: These subs are no where near high-end.

I have owned a couple of the lower end model Volfenhag subs and they sucked.

What other quality SQL 12" subs can you guys recommend for around $150ea.?

I would like to be able to use them with an AudioQ AQ2200D.

Also, i have about 20cu.ft. of trunk space to work with, and I'd prefer to go ported. If that helps. Thanks.

I have a '97 Cadillac DeVille, w/stock electrical. All I have so far is an Alpine IVA-W505 HU. Hopefully, I didn't get lied to about the quality of my HU also. Though I got that for like $950, out the door, from a diff. shop.

I wanna try to keep it under $900ish, for Subs & Sub Amp & wiring. I want to run 1/0ga. wire to the trunk, nothing smaller if possible, for the sub amp. Also, I'm leaning towards an AQ1200d. In which case, I guess I should be lookin' at a Dual 4ohm VC config. So that I can run the amp at 1ohm and have some overhead. Even though the same guy who recommended the Volfenhag sub, said he'd heard of AudioQ and told me that they were a "no name/swap meet type brand", and to take a look at either Performance Teknique or DHD.

Also, I was lookin' at the AudioQ SDC2.512 or the RD Studio Series 12" instead of the Volfenhag ZX12, as they are roughly the same price. How do those subs compare? Remember I'm goin' for SQL.

I wouldn't take any advice from the guy you're talking to at the shop.

You need to get dual 2 ohm coils so you can run the sub at 1 ohm.

I'd go AQ over RD, but there are so so many decent brands out there.

we used to cok wolfenhag 15s for fun.

if you want good subs for around 150, im ALSO gonna point u towards alpine type R. if not, try some kicker CVR.

alpine is they better choice, kicker is cheaper.

sonicelectronix.com has:

type R 12" for 125 not shipped so maybe 140 shipped

and

CVR 12" for 85$(2005 model) not shipped so maybe 100 shipped. BUT they are prolly out of the 05 models, if so, they'll upgrade you to the 2007 models for FREE. thats what they did when i ordered my 15s.

i just got an RD 1000.1 from kevin holden on here. love it, plus it would be great for two of either of those subs.

P.S.- NICE HU!

Audioque 1200
http://www.audioque.com/aq/AQamps.htm

Knukonceptz has great wires to nice prices. Fast and cheap shipping, very happy with them
http://www.knukonceptz.com/index.cfm

Add about 200 for wiring, sub box and other misc. things you don't remember about this your installing and it comes a little over $700

Troy, if you look at my post I said "subs" not sub. So, I'm pretty sure I'll need dual 4ohm VC's to get a 1ohm load from two subs, like I said.

I'm not too sure about Alpine & Kicker subs, as I want to get a sub that I can get re-coned needed. Also, I'm guessing that Kicker doesn't have the same quality standards as AudioQ, at least not on their subs. I also want to get my equipment from authorized dealers.

Also, anyone know if Odyssey & Stinger batteries are the same thing?
