can you measure how many rms your amp puts out with this?

If you use that and a DMM you can get a crude estimate.

You need an oscilloscope, high current resistors, and and very high current power supply to bench test amps.


Not to mention a decent knowledge of electronics. Most people look at a o-scope like its something that belongs in star trek

That's why I said crude, it wouldn't be like anything you could publish, but it would be as reliable as some low-line amp manufacturers ratings lol.

lol, That is a DMM. And its a pretty good one too. Cheaper Amp Clamp DMM's cant handle large DC amps. That will take 1k.

But like M.S. said, you need speacial tools to get the real rms.
That will give you a rough idea, clamp the power, or ground, play a test tone and see what the reading is. then X's it by the voltage it was at, and subtract for efficiancy of the amp. It will at least tell you if the amp is near stated rating.
