So i have a nice long story about my box i just built...for anyone who wants to here it.

I started at a Menards...picked up a 4x8 sheet of mdf, wood glue, caulk, a soldering iron, and a multimeter. On my way out I saw this guy from our local audio shop walking in who's cousin is one of my friends who was with me. Long story short he offers to let us come to the shop and he'll do the cuts for me on their table saw. I of course took him up on the offer. So we get there and make all the cuts. Then when we set the woofer next to the boards we realize we didn't account fro how frickin huge the thing was on the outside (over 16" accross...) so we have to re-design the box on the fly and i had to "borrow" some MDF from the shop...with no intent of repaying lol...so he puts everything together but the front. I get home and caulk it all up (nice and messy) and go to put the front on and realize that the the port pieces were switched... so basically the back wasn't on and the front was completley covered up. So i have to spend 40 minutes with a jigsaw uncovering the port. After that i finish putting it together (after crakckin the mdf in 2 places....) and go to set it in my trunk. It doesn't clear my 6x9's by a quarter of an inch. It still fits but it has to sit at the back of my trunk instead of the front of it where i would still have half my trunk to work with. So i think i'm gonna take of the grills on my 6x9s and put a 1/2 inch baffle thing on them so they sit up higher...basically i think the box is a POS...will have to rebuild it probably...I might get some pics up in a few min if i feel amibitous.

If any one read that, you officialy have to much time on your hands!

My uncle lives in Ann Arbor.
Eh, first boxes are always abortions, mine was at least :-)
The next one will go better now that you have experience in it.
Measure twice, cut once.

We made all the cuts fine....just didn't think about the outsid dimension of the woofer...assumed a 15.5 inch box would be tall enough lol. Heres some pics...the big crack in the mdf is kinda flush with the board now so you can't see it....the other thing i'm worried about is i wasn't able to caulk the whole port so it isn't sealed everwhere, pics:

Mines not sealed everywhere either, but I did power sand all the edges flat before I put the lid down on it. I haven't had any leaks or anything..

I couldn't see the crack you were talking about though, how bad is it and can you use paint and draw over the area and repost the pic.

BTW - I meant use paint.exe that comes with Windows, and draw an arrow pointing to the crack, not paint over it... lol

i could be wrong but it looks like you could use some more screws in that bad boy...

I don't want to put more screws in because it splits the wood like crazy...need to find better screws and buy a countersink bit...plus the glue does more than the screws anyways...

BTW 6th pic, upper right hand corner you can see where the mdf is pushing out a little from where it cracked, its not terrible as long as it doesn't like break off from the pressure.
