it says the amp puts out its rated power at 11 or 14.4 volts. my lights blink like crazy and i only have stock 130 amp alt. and stock batt. would i even benefit from getting a big batt. since it puts out its rated power at low voltage?
your problem is that your alternator only puts out 130 amps at like 3500 rpm. at 1000 rpm it prob puts out 90-100. That amp at full power will draw close to 100 amps. The only way around this is to upgrade your alternator to one that has more output at idle.
Following James advice, you could install a smaller pulley on the alternator..however..with the amperage you're talking about, a better battery and a capacitor should fix the problem too...although I'm not a big fan of caps anyway
my guess would be an installation problem. 130A is a lot of alt. If the 1000/1 is your only amp you should be able to run it with no problems at all. Have a parts store check your battery.
What size power/ground wires are you using for the amp?
