look at the specs for the CDA-7990 some day, and the digital processor for it, and maybe you'll understand.

Since I own the 7990 I can speak first hand on what a truly fantastic unit it is.
Nothing like the typical non F1 alpines.

Eclipse has some pretty nice HU's, I just grabbed their catalogue yesterday. They have one that has Nav, built in 30 GB HDD that automatically rips all songs off EVERY CD YOU INSERT, built in RTA, great menu system graphics.. I bet its over $3k

the 7990 has no fancy unneeded gadgetry. It's AM, FM, and CD. period.
no EQ, no Crossover, no internal amp, NAV, mp3 playing, etc..
It's a pure SQ unit. simple and straight forward and very simple to operate.
