Is my JL amp powerful enough

Hi everyone.
I have 2 JL W6v2 Subs and a 500/1 amp.
When i have both subs connected i can hear a popping noise when i turn the volume up, whereas if either sub is connected on its own it is fine.
From looking at other threads i assume it is clipping. Is this correct?
Or could it be that i need an extra battery?
Any advice will be well recieved.
My train of thought is that i need either another 500/1 amp or upgrade to a 1000/1 amp.
But if i were to do this would i need another battery. I dont fancy another battery because i am struggling for space and it sounds complex.

since u already own a 500/1 get another or buy that 1000/1 like u said - after installing it & your lights blink due to the system calling 4 more current , then electrical upgrades is needed .......

popping is not clipping. You need to have someone take a look at your system. Simply underpowering subs will not cause any problems, it will just be a little quieter at the same volume level than it would be with twice the power.
