Do these subs get loud with only 175 watts rms?
Do they sound good?

alot of people who have them push 225rms through them there nice sounding subs from what ive heard im not sure what you consider loud but they will put out some kick
if u want some loud subs get a SX alot of people say they get louder than the L7's and still have a nice sq for a spl sub

I wouldn't go over 250 watts rms... thats about all I'd be willing to push them with.
Like Robert said, depends on what you're calling loud, but I'd say the get loud for they're power requirements..

Lol... you're thinking of the RE MT.
The RE series has an rms rating of 175 watts rms... but can handle more.

you could get 4 RE's and push them 175 rms each which is 700 rms i dont know any 700 rms amps but good companies underrate there amps like kicker will probily hit 700 rms with there 600.1
put them all in a ported box
that should get pretty loud
the coule kids i know that are pushing more than 500 rms with there stock alternator dont seem to have a problem but that requires alot on your car i have a 93 camry but it handles it fine
thats just my 2 cents maybe someone who knows more probily has a better idea

I think 4 res is too much and would take up to much room maybe 3 with a 600 watt amp. And how would a 15 se compare to 2 or 3 12 inch res and to 1 12 inch sx

this is the power rating of RE's subs

RE - 175wRMS -- DVC 4 ohm
SE - 600wRMS -- DVC 4 ohm
SX - 1000wRMS -- DVC 2 ohm
XXX - 1600wRMS -- DVC 2 ohm, QVC 2 & 1 available
MT - 2500wRMS to 5000wRMS -- DVC .7 & 1.4 ohm, QVC .7 & 1.4 ohm

so ya ! - 1 sx would murder 2 RE subs - lol

I will give you some first hand experience on the RE's. I am one of those high school kids who like loud... BUT I also like SQ with it being loud. Being short of money and all I decided with the Kicker 450.2(225rmsX2) and 2 RE12's SEALED. Ported would be louder but they are plenty loud for me and sound AWESOME. They are punchy beyond belief. I really can't even describe it, never heard a sub that hit you in the chest so hard, accurate etc. Great for all types of music (can get REALLY low too). I had trouble with the install at first but after a simple fix everything is going good now. If you have any more questions about the RE's just let me know, I will try to help.

i think 1000 watts rms is too much and too expensive.

Hey chris so you think they will be loud enough in a sealed boxor go ported?

hondarider, if you want the "punchiness" go sealed. It is plenty loud.
