Amplifier Heating

I have a '98 Firebird, and thinking of mounting the subwoofers under the back window. My question is will it get too hot under there, since I live in a city where we get lots of sun light?

you can always get a fan! tinted windows? the subs should be "ok" in direct sunlight, but i'd try to keep the amp out of it, you don't want the amp overheating.

yes...when I had mine...i had this problem...i used to turn on my car at 4:00...and it'd already be in protection mode because it was so hot...I threw a white sheet over it temporarily...until I could get my limo tints on...thats what I suggest you do as well

Ok, well it has 2 fans built in already so I dont think it needs another one.

How much does it cost to get a nice tint job done on your car? See Ill be changing cars in less than a year, and I dont really want to spend anything else on this one...

Also I meant amplifier, not subwoofers in the first post. Subs are in the well.

Go buy tints for $15 and do it yourself. Just takes time and manual labour.
Exposing speakers/subs directly in the sun will cause the foam/rubber surround to deteriorate over time.

For the amp, if you must, you can always paint the case silver or white. It helps.
