Odd Distortion Problem

I'm having a problem with my three way sony xplod 5.25" speakers in the rear deck of my bmw 318. The problem is that i am getting a pretty painful distortion out of both speakers at a very specific high frequency. I also have 2 more of these speakers in the front doors of the car and they sound fine. Could this possibly be:
reflection off the back window
resonance in the shelf (perhaps dynamat would fix it?)
Thanks for your advice!

Well your problem is right in front of you,its your SONY XPLODS!! They are not very good at all nothing from sony is good in car audio. And its funny your driving a bmw cuz it seems like you have money so why wouldnt you get some better car audio stuff? Anyway about your ? do you have an amp hooked to them? Your gain might be set to high. If you dont have an amp then on your head unit fade it more to the front,it should sound better anyways, you should always have your "louder" speakers in front for best sound staging.
