hi everyone, I have just bought 2 cheap 15" subs rated at 300 WRMS and I am going to be building a box for them soon, I want to build a sealed box, because they are the easiest to make and I'm not sure on tuning box ports or anything, but I was wondering how i could get more SPL out of my sealed box, Would I gain any more SPL if I made the box bigger? the recommended sealed box volume is 1.75 cubic feet each, So I was wondering if the story would be the same with sealed boxes as ported boxes, if I made the box volume bigger, say 2.5 - 3.0 cubic feet, would there be much of a gain in SPL? or is there any other easy way I would be able to gain SPL?
keep in mind the smaller the enclosure the higher the bass and your speaker handles more power the larger the enclosure the deeper the bass but the sub handles less power go with recommended or a little larger your 300w 15s are only gonna take so much to really increase spl spring for some kickass 15s and sell your cheap ones to someone who dont have anything and make atleast half your money back thats what i do!
with a bigger box you probably wont gain spl but you will gain better clearity as far as lower notes playing cleaner or being able to play notes that you couldnt at all in some cases with a small box
