Ordered a sx 15" dual 4 ohm the other day. Plan on putting it in a sealed box with around 1.85 maybe 1.9 cuft not sure. Im putting a rd 1000.1 to it wired at 2 ohms. I'm an impatient son of a b**** so if anyone has any experience... let me know would I should be expecting.

Oh yea, going in a ford stx f-150 with an extended cab but not with seats. I'm hoping it will beat my expectations.

I've owned a pair of SX's i've heard an SX in both sealed and ported and i dont see why they dont recommend sealed for it because it still got plenty loud

they are not designed for sealed enclosures.

best bet is to use that room and port it

lol with that room ported wouldnt that make it sound even worse than anything comming from a sealed enclosure? From personal experience is really what I'd like to know because I've already seen that they dont 'recomend' sealed enclosures for it. I'll admit I dont understand why, unless of course someone has seen first hand the caution for doing so.

Raycist, how many cuft did you give each sub when sealed and what size were they?

I have run the RE SX15 both ported and sealed. They DO NOT like sealed boxes.

Try it in a simple 3.5-4cuft box tuned around 35hz.

Also, why did you get the DVC 4ohm? Your amp is 1ohm stable.

What do you mean by DO NOT like sealed boxes specifically? Ive already ordered the sub and ive always wanted an re sub, a 15 at that. I have the sealed box built and ready fitting the max amount of room in my small truck.

Btw I feel like a jack***. I didnt realize the rd 1000.1 pushes 1000 at 1 ohm instead of 2....

Like I said though id like to know what exactly is so bad about this sub and sealed enclosures lol from my experience any sub will sound decent in a sealed box. Id like to know whats so different about this sub and maybe another matching my specifications.

You will get little to no low end from that SX15 in a sealed box.

If you must stick w/ a sealed box, send the SX back and get an SE.

thats what im looking for...

in that case, if anyone still reads this, with that set up what would be a better alternative? assuming I can return the sub.

Like he said a se would be nice. A fI Q in sealed or SI mag would be nice. they both sound great sealed. It's like the alpha i have i tried it sealed, sounded like sh!t it has no range what so ever and just sounds like it needs something else. A ported box definetly fixed that one. Just build a new box if you want the sx you wont be dissapointed

worked with 10" & 12" not the 15" but expect to be happy with it ported , sub is NOT designed to play well in sealed ...if u wanted the quality of sealed the SE is better suited for that ....

Am I not understanding something here? with less than 2cuft to work with porting a box would not be the right thing to do correct?

If so, I've heard of the si mags. How much rms would a 15 need sealed?

i don't understand why you can't build a 4cubic foot box if the truck is an extended cab.. build a larger box and run that SX.. tune to 35hz and get an amp that will do power at 2ohm.. or buy another S d4 and a larger amp..

you can fit ported 15s in an extended cab truck...

the re se looks like a great choice.

what other subs are just as good if not better for a sealed enclosure? i see the mag only needs 1.0cuft of space and idk if thats what im looking for, considering my box already built is 1.9 cuft.
