New member Username: JustjPost Number: 1 Registered: Jun-07 | I want to hook up a pair of 100w RMS 6x9s(300w peak) to my 200x2 amp. Heres the issue the speakers are 2 ohm and the amp is 4 ohm, will any damage result in the pairing of these to components be it to the speakers or the amp itself? The amp is a old Kenwood KAC-746 and the speakers are new Infinity 3-Way 6x9s. |

If you bridge 1-2, and 3-4 down to 2 ohms, the amp will most likly overheat, or fry. Maybe run some more comps on it for 4 drivers total. those 6x9s off 1 and 2 for 50 at 2, and comps off 3 and 4 at 35 each at 4 what? |

Gold Member Username: AdddisorderWest palm, Florida Post Number: 4508 Registered: Jan-06 | never mind it didnt make sence to me at first but i got it. anyway you dont need 4 drivers for it. |

New member Username: JustjPost Number: 5 Registered: Jun-07 | The amp doesn't go down to 2 ohms I dont think. So what if I do bridge it to get the 100w per channel do u really think it will fry? |

But not 2 -2 ohm drivers bridged. What?} |
New member Username: JustjPost Number: 7 Registered: Jun-07 | Well My owners manuel doesn't say anything about 2 ohms so I dont know where u got the info. It only shows me "X"x4 ohm setuos. Also I don't fully understand all that last bit. So when I hook these speakers up to this amp bridged what is going to happen? will they paly if I keep the gain down or will it fry right away or just shut off? |
Gold Member Username: AdddisorderWest palm, Florida Post Number: 4509 Registered: Jan-06 | if you hook it up to the amp bridged the amp will see a 2ohm load and more then likly blow maybe not right away but it will. according the marcs specs you can run 1 off each channel and be fine. |
Gold Member Username: Van_manBoston South, MA Post Number: 2506 Registered: Mar-06 | Heres where I got the specs. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1939045 And also from the Owners manual at kenwood. http://inform2.kenwoodusa.com/manuals/kac746.pdf In the manual, It says bridging it at less then 4 ohms will damage the amp. I may not know it all, But I do know amp/speaker wirering.. What? |
