Dvd camcorder and mac Help

Hi all
i have a sony dvd camcorder and a mac unfortunately the camcorder is not in the list of recognised cameras in imovie how can i import the footage to start editing on my mac this is very frustrating

If indeed the video is recorded to a mini DVD which is the type of camcorder you say you have, then finalize the disc.

Take the disc to your Mac.

And rip the files to your hard drive.

The files will most likely be MPEG2.
