The car is 2006 BMW X3 with a "BMW Business CD" head unit; I believe that this unit is an Alpine OEM unit, but I can't be sure.
When I have the unit display it's serial number it reports: V1098468 ================================ Sorry....will only be available from the Main Dealer or the unit will have to be taken into a Radio Decoding Service to obtain this code
It will not be available for free or cheap from anywhere on the Internet
Hello. I bought a 95 BMW 530i from a friend of mine in the used car business. There was no owners manual.They changed the battery and the rest is history. Finally got the 5 sided key to get the radio out. What I could see on the radio is Model CM5903 P/NO 82 11 1 467 696 On the back was a plate stamped A50213877

Remove the radio from the dashboard and quote the Part Number and Serial Number found on a label on the radio casing

Is there any reason why one shouldn't mark the code on the case of the radio once it's discovered ? .
I once bought a new Blaupunkt cassette deck for my old shop truck , my then teenaged son helped me to install it and was quite insistent we give it a security code , I said no so it's never been an issue , I now have a nice old 198? Becker Electronic that wants a code ....
I'd love to uncode these old Beckers as I have four old Mercedes Diesels that use them and I'm upgrading to the late 1980's vintage Becker Electronics .

Your radio is made by CLARION and the only CLARION code available for free (using a serial number ) from anywhere on the Internet is if your radio also has a BARCODE SERIAL NUMBER beginning with C 7000000 + + + + on a separate label somewhere on the metal casing. (Note ...not beginning with CL.)
If not then it will only be available from your Main Dealer or a Decoding Service or your local Car Radio / Audio Store who will connect a laptop to read/recode the memory chip (EEPROM) inside your radio

The radio has to be removed from the dashboard
Then quote the 14 character SERIAL NUMBER beginning with RN* * * * * * * * * * * * found stamped in the metal casing.
Also quote the SECURITY NUMBER. This is found on a label on the metal casing in the format TOA123 or TA123 or just A123 at the end of a barcode
If in doubt post ALL the letters+numbers on any labels or barcodes

The radio SERIAL NUMBER is required for a code
First remove the radio from the dashboard.
Then post the radio make+model plus all the letters+numbers on any labels,barcodes or stamped in the metal casing.
This information can then be used to see if a code can be calculated
