What type of metals are used in the wires?

I have a pretty good amount of wiring from an old setup I had. I collect copper and I figure it could add some more weight to my scrap metal bin. The problem is, I am not really too sure what type of metal this is after I stripped the insulation off. It is silver wire so I was thinking it is nickel plated copper? It came off of some audiobahn primary wire, with the clear insulation. Thanks!

HI friends.....
Normally electrical ropes are copper because it has extremely high-quality electrical conductivity. The wiring in some American houses form the 70s are aluminum because of the high price of copper at the time. The electrical ropes on high voltage pylons are normally aluminum; although it is a poorer conductor than copper it is much lighter so can be thinner to support its own power.

Thanks for...
