I currently have a pair of CDT Cl61i's powered by an orion cobalt 600.2(100wrmsx2 @ 4 ohms, 150x2@2). I like the way they sound but i want something louder. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for a 2 way component set around $150.

Alpine type R maybe? If you had a larger budget, you'd have a lot more options.

Focal Polyglass 165 VR components are really nice, but a bit out of your range.

Are those efficient enough to get loud at only 50wrms?

If it's really 50 RMS watts from an amplifier, then certainly. If you mean "50 watts" from a head unit, then what you really mean is 12 watts RMS, and no, they won't be any louder than any other speaker with a crappy IC based amplifier lacking a transformer putting out 10-15 watts of juice.

Well my current setup is 100wrms to my components from an amplifier and they are not as loud as i would like them to be.

gain set properly on that amplifier?
what kind of car?
any sound damping in place?
where are the current speakers mounted?

there are a number of factors to ponder here that may also help in respect to your concerns.

I set the gain using a dmm and 0dB test tones, I have a 2001 chevy cavalier, no sound dampening and they are mounted in the door. I also forgot to mention my substage, 2 sealed 12" RD Classics powered by a hifonics bxi1206d(set to ~850wrms)

Part of the problem could be the factory door placement for the speakers, but the ability to mend that problem depends mostly on how much you feel like doing custom work with fiberglass.

I would have no problem trying it, but i have never done it before and do not know anyone who has. What would you suggest doing?

check google. there are a ton of guides online for how to do fiberglass kick pods for cars.
that'd be your best solution. kick pods. makes for good imaging, and signal path length.
