Hey guys, i just recently bought an Audiobahn A2300HCT amp, and i have a box with 2 12" JBLs rated at 250watt RMS @ 2 Ohm, i also have an Excursion rated @ 400watts RMS @4 ohm,

im having a little problem with the amp,

when i plug in one sub on one channel, it works fine, kicks pretty hard, if i connect the same sub, to the other channel, it works fine,

however, if i connect both subs at the same time, one per channel, the bass just dies out, both subs barely work, if i disconnect one, it works fine again.

does anyone have any idea whats wrong??

audiobahn amps of the small size usually need a 4 ohm load no less thats your problem just run the two jbl's

Like sean say the power supply can't support both channels with 2 ohms load.

The wire from the batterie is too small or you can add a Capacitor, you can also add few capacitors in the power supply section but you need to have experience with it!

this amp is a 2400 watt amp, with one sub, i have to tune all my bass settings down to about -2, it still kicks really hard, if i set my bass up it'll blow the subs for sure.

i dont think its lack of power on the amp part

Your amp is for 4 ohms then you put 2 ohms speakers, it's like you put two 4 ohms speakers on each channels which your amp is not made for it.
Forget the watts power, if the amps can't power to 2 ohms, you will drop the power supply then the sound will be very worst!

How is your cable size from amp to battery?
How many ampere your battery can provide?

Another thing, the power doesn't give better quality of sound but usualy worst!

nah, this amp works with 2 ohms too, these are the manufacturer specs:

4800W Max, High-Current 2-Channel Car Amplifier
RMS Power Rating:
300 watts x 2 chan. @ 4 ohms
600 watts x 2 chan. @ 2 ohms
1200 watts x 2 chan. @ 1 ohm

the power cable is an 8-gauge,

my battery is a standard 6-cell 12v car battery, im not sure of the amperage, but its more than enough.

#8 wire is too much small for this amp!

What length is this cable?

Is the battery in front then the amps in back?

the cable is about 10 ft long, yes battery is in the front and amp in the back,
could that be the problem?

Yes that's the problem buy a new cable like 4 AWG for 120 amps then use a Capacitor 1.5 farad(choose for your amplifier) like this one:http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/bh-cap54d.aspx

This link will help you to understand why you need it with a video showing how install it!
http://www.squidoo.com/caraudiocapacitor

I know that will cost more money but you will not regret it!

You must put the capacitor closer as possible of the amplifier for optimal result!
