i'd reccommed the dual 4, that way they will wire down to one ohm, and even in ur not interested in my amp or whatnot, its a lot easier findin a amp with 1000 watts at one ohm rather than two, and cheaper

would an amp that was rated somewhere between 300-400 rms for each channel be sufficient for the 2 500w rms subs? or should i really try to find a good amp that will put out that 500x2?

Get the AQ1200D. 1200X1 at 1 ohm. http://www.audioque.com/aq/AQamps.htm

Plus it's only $249 right now.

I have a Type R, and it can easily handle over 500w.

300/400 each would be plenty. 500 ea would give you slightly more output, but barely enough to notice.

so im lookin at kicker amps right now...could go with zx1000.1 and run it at 2 ohms for 500x2rms for $287.....but would i need any more power or would 500 be good enough and say 600w not really make too big a difference?

You cannot use that amp. You need a 1 ohm stable amp for those subs, like the AQ.

The AQ is cheaper, has more power and is just as good as, if not better than the Kicker amp.

I wouldn't go that far...... I'd still say the kicker is the better amp. It won't work for his subs though.

Oh I didn't mean it like that..... you're entitled to your opinion but mine is that they are both good amps but the Kicker's a little better.

Like I said though, for those subs he needs a 1 ohm stable amp.

what's the reason i need a 1 ohm stable amp? the r's come in 2 and 4 ohm if that gives me any certain amps to look at....anybody got any suggestions? i'll look for that aq. is any special wiring needed for 1 ohm or any add-ons i'll need (like for the battery)? i had stock system before and now adding 2 amps.

In the first post you said Dual 4 ohm, so I thought thats what your subs were.

If you didn't buy them yet, you can get the Dual 2 ohm, then you could use the Kicker amp or any other 2 ohm stable amp. For a 1 ohm stable amp you would get the dual 4s.

so which setup would you reccomend?.....kicker zx1000.1 with 2 2ohm r's or the aq 1200d with 2 4ohm r's?

the aq is 250 while the kicker is 287...so not too big a difference.
thanks a lot for helpin a new kid out. if i have 2 amps runnin in my car one kicker 650.4 and say the 1000.1, would i need to do anything with the electrical of the car?

I'd go with the Kicker amp....... your stock electrical system may be alright with that but theres no way to know for sure.

Do ported, still sounds good and more output....... if you draw too much current from your electrical you will see the voltage drop below 12 volts if goes you'd just have to turn it down or get HO alternator.

thinkin about goin through crutchfield for a ported box....could get a dual with 1.25 cu.ft/sub or a dual with 1.75/sub...would bigger be better? got 2000 mustang cpe so i gotta measure and everything. both boxes would work as for the sub needs between .75 and 2.0 cu.ft

Definetly no prefab boxes, they suck bad except the sealed ones, those are just ok.

www.fishercustoms.com

www.woodlawncabinetry.com

You can get a good box there. The box makes more difference than the subs in it............
