Amp question!

I have (2) Pioneer Premier 12" TS-W3004SPL's and (2) Hifonics BX1500D's running @ 2 ohms each. Question is: Should I run one amp at one ohm (apparently 1500 watts RMS @ 1 ohm at 14 Volts) to both subs OR should I run both amps @ 2 ohms each (apparenlty 1000 watts RMS @ 2 ohms at 14 Volts)? I have stock alternator and no "Big 3" upgrades. I have a 5 farad cap and a standard battery that came in the car. Plan to buy a Optima Yellow Top. Each amp has two 60Amp fuses on the side. I have a 250Amp fuse under the hood and (2) 125Amp fuses in the distribution block in the trunk. 0 guage wire to cap and distribution block and 4guage to amplifiers Plese give me suggestions on which setup would sound the best.

i would run each at 2ohm, get a ho alt., upgrade the big 3, and get rid of the cap.

I realize that that is a great idea but I don't want to spend $800-$1200 for an alt that puts out what I need at idle. I just decided to upgrade "big 3" soon. Thanks!

Thanks for the website. I wasn't looking for an alt that only produces enough power at 6800 RPM and wanted a 250A to 300A alt at idle. The only place I had found those is at a local shop and he quoted me $800 to $1200. Obviously this is overpriced and that is why I didn't buy one. I will check out the site you gave me. On the other topic, I never said anything about SQ. What I ment was SPL. Which would have more SPL? Or will the BX1500D @1 ohm be enough or have more SPL sinse drawing less current and keeping the voltage up. If this alternator thing works out I wont have to change anything. Does anybody know about the reliability of these alternators

Thanks for information but I think all Iraggi alts are not rated at idle. I will check it out.

Anyone know what will work best? 1 amp @1 ohm or 2 amps @2 ohms each? They draw alot of current.

the less amps. the less current draw.

2 amps each rated at 300wRMS will draw more current than one amp rated at 600wRMS.:-)

this is the subs specs:

Sensitivity: 89 dB
RMS Power Range : 750 Watts
Peak Power Handling: 2000 Watts
Impedance: Dual 4 Ohm
Low Frequency response: 18 Hz
High Frequency Response: 2000 Hz
Diameter: 12 Inch

so i think that amp would be perfect for them.

just keep the amps you have instead of buying new ones. imo running those two amps or one large amp is still going to require you to need a ho alt. anyways.

Does anyone know of a good 2000 watt RMS amp that is rated at 12 volts? If not, any good 2000 watt RMS @1 ohm out there?

Yes, but it is easier to tune and set up with one amp. Plus I have lots of other subs lying around I can use those amps on.

couple good amps. still stand by what i say about you needing a ho alt. though, but at the least get a couple good batteries since you don't care about the alt.

I want an alt but they are rather pricy when you need one that puts out rated power at idle. Know of any inexpensive ho alts?
That MMATS amp is sweet! Too much $$$$$$$$$$$$$ though. I wish!

sinful, you need to sell those amps and get a 2000w rms amp at 1 ohm in order to fully power those subs. They will get loud with 800w rms cuz pioneer in some cases overrates their subs, but they do pound a lot. If i were you i'd sell those amps for 200$ locally or something like that and then get a soundstream pca 2000d or something like that. For an alternator, you won't need 300A at idle.
