xtreme i think is actually a little thinner, i think. but it is better, thats why it's more $. plus i think you cant use original on trunk lids and roofs' but xtreme you can use anywhere.

Xtreme does not have to be heated.
it is not the same material as Original Dynamat. it isn't asphault based, so it isn't as stinky either.
Dynamat is 0.070" thick - it is styrene-butyadine-rubber- based
Dynamat Extreme is 0.067" thick - it is elastomeric butyl

dont use dynamat its a waste of money. Just jerk off a bunch of times and everytime you bust throw some on the trunk roof. Thats what i do

depending on the sound frequency you are trying to control, the material has to be of proper characteristics. For door shells and similar panels the sticky dynamat is a good choice (increases innert mass of surface stopping low freq vibrations). for cavities you can use the stuff that hifi home speakers use. Never compress the stuffing material in any way, air needs to move freely, you are just controlling reverberation. Do not use Chauncey's material, it is ineffective and may stink up the car.

the dynamat will mostly clarify (reduce resonance and/or vibration distortion and coloration), but also enhance a little bit your low end
