does anyone know if a 200 amp will actually put
200amps or if it would hurt the stock electrical componets and if i need one that big im running jl audio 100/1and a jl audio
e 4300 with 2 12 inch jl w6's please help!!!!

no, the larger alternator isn't gonna hurt anything, the car electrical components are only gonna pull what they need and they are fused. and the alternator isn't gonna put out but what is needed too. having an alternator larger then needed puts less stress on one that is working at full potential all the time which will lengthen its life span.

but if you don't upgrade the wireing (the big 3) then the alternator cannot put out what it is rated at and could prob melt the output wire, causing damage to the car's electrical system.

the big three are:
alternator to positive battery
negitive battery to chassis ground
and engine block to chassis ground

you wanna upgrade these to at least a 4awg, if not 2 or 1/0 awg to handle the increase in current.

You can have as many amps as you want... it wont hurt. What would hurt, is say a 24 volt alternator hooked up to your stock electrical system. :-) Volts are what you need to watch, not amps.
