I'm new to all of this so hopefully someone can help me out.

I bought a cd player that has a preamp sub out (RCA). I want to leave the stock speakers in place and just hook one subwoofer in the trunk (my battery is also located in the trunk 2005 cobalt). I have a Kenwood 10" powered subwoofer with RCA inputs. Do I just run rca cables from the player to the woofer for it to work? The woofer also has speaker-level inputs which I know nothing about. Also will the woofer power on and off with the radio?

I'm completely clueless but I want to do this myself.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

you need an amplifier wiring kit (8AWG) to wire the power for that sub, along with the RCA lines, and remote trigger (tells the amp when to turn on)
you can get everything you need in a kit from places like www.knukonceptz.com for about $25
