Ok. I talked to a guy at a local car place to see what kind of amp I should get for my 2 12"w6v2's. they are 400rms each. I was going to buy the 1000/1 but he said that is to much since its in a ported box. He recomended the 500/1. What do you think?

well, if you're going ported, the enclosure will limit excursion, and somewhat decrease mechanical power handling so yeah the 500/1 would be fine. Save ya money, too. That'd work.

then stick with the JL amp. it's rated 1.5 ohm stable and puts out the same power regardless of load.
you have 3 ohm subs.
