my ipod battery died and it wont recharge 1st i plugged it in (no screen), then i tried it again and it said please wait battery is very low and i left it there so it can be charged after 2 or 3 hours i saw the ipod with the same massage. also makes a sound in the ipod (ticking sound)
If it is a year old, try to remember if the battery charge ever went out. Lithium-ion batteries are very finnicky when allowed to run out of charge and they are never the same after that. You have to keep it charged and promptly remove from charging once the indicator says full.
If not, then you may want to send it in to Apple for repair or battery replacement.
