I need help buying a portable audio player, but the main problem is that I'm not able to predict which of the new audio codec is going to replace the mp3.

We have the acc format, made by apple and therefor it's supported on ipad's, apple is making great efforts to support the new format and so the ipad's don't support the concurent audio codec - ogg vorbis.

As ogg is a freeware audio codec by all means... it has no big corporation supporting it, but many players support it because they don't want to depend on apples acc codec.

Then we also have the Microsoft wannabe codec - wma, which most probably can't be really compared with the other two, but it has also some heavy pressure to portable audio players by Microsoft corporation.

As things are now I'll probably go for a player that supports the ogg format as none of them supports all new audio formats, but if anyone has some more reliable information on the matter then my above speculations, I'd gladly hear them out.
