Ok, please excuse me but I just bought my Nikon d70s and I'm a little unfamiliar with how to set the shutter speed to say 1/500th of a second. When I set the mode dial to M or S and then click, "Menu" to change the shutter speed, all i see is: 1/2, 1", 2", 4", 8", 15", 30", 1/60, 1/30, 1/15, 1/8, 1/4. Can someone please explain what I am seeing or is there another way I could get the shutter speed to 1/500th or even 1/1000th of a second?

Jennifer,
When trying to set the shutter speed, DO NOT use the MENU. Setting number 21 (SHUTTER SPEED) on your MENU is used when you are trying to set the slowest shutter speed possible when you are using the speedlight.

To set the shutter speed manually when in M or S mode use the sub-command dial. That's the dial in front of the camera. You can actually set the shutter speed to 1/8000th of a second.
