Hey LK, your Brady better put up some decent numbers today. He's my fantasy QB. Reggie Bush flopped for me on Thursday so I'm looking to gain some ground back in the air. When you talk to him tell him "all air" today. TY.

he's 38 in a body of a 60 yr old with all the hits he's had...I love him, but he has a death wish...too bad the Packers suck for him every year...Look at Vinnt T playing well after 40, but he never got hit!...

Partiots will win by at least 7 today!...but I really expect more like 14...

poor poor Brett. The Packers should be ashamed of the team they've put around him the last couple years and this year. And he's considered such a god to packer fans that he'd look like the bad guy if he had left, which he should have. The pack will be lucky to win 5 or 6 games this year. Put Favre on the Bears this season, and they'd cruise to the superbowl. But instead we have rex.....i hate my life.

In this hard hitting game 38 IS old. In life he's just getting warmed up but IMO he should've bowed out gracefully a couple of years ago.

As a person I like him tons over a Donovan or Peyton. Brett just has so much more class, just not a line that can protect him. He'll fit right in as a good analyst.

Hey, Pittsburg is alot like New England in the sense that both areas are mostly, basically blue collar hard working good folks, who love their teams...I've spent alot of time in Pitt at the military bases (AFR-ANG) at the airport, and relate well with the good people there.....and if Dan Marino is from there, then U know it must be good, cause he and his family are tops!

This entire stealin signs thing is ridiculous....as well as the $500,000 fine towards Belicheck and the team $250,000 fine and the loss of the 2008 draft picks..

as I watched Terry Bradshaw last nite on Jay Leno...

Bradshaw even stated that ALL teams have been stealing signs for MANY many many years ...AND STILL do and always will!...and its not illegal to steal signs!...its ONLY a NEW RULE, THIS YEAR, that U cannot use a video device to steal the signs!...and Goodell wants to flex his authority on this...and everybodys jumping on the bandwagon cause its the Patriots, cause most people love to see the top get knocked down...human nature...

BTW...the players were/are not even aware of this attempt to steal signs..

Commissioner Roger Goodell announced severe penalties against the coach and the franchise in a letter to the Patriots last night.

Goodell slammed the coach with a $500,000 fine, the maximum allowed, and stripped the Patriots of either a first-round pick in 2008 if they make the playoffs this season or a second- and third-rounder if they don't. While saying he believed Patriots ownership was unaware of Belichick's actions, Goodell also fined the club $250,000.

"I accept full responsibility for the actions that led to tonight's ruling," Belichick said in a statement, reiterating his apology to the Patriots' owners and players for the "embarrassment, distraction and penalty my mistake caused."

Belichick said his interpretation of the rules was incorrect and added that the Patriots have "never used sideline video to obtain a competitive advantage while the game was in progress."

Goodell said he considered suspending Belichick but decided the heavy fine and draft-day penalty would serve as a "more significant and long-lasting" rebuke. The NFL will closely review and monitor the Patriots' coaching video program, effective immediately. The commissioner also determined that use of the video camera, which was seized before the end of the first quarter, had no impact on Sunday's game, a 38-14 Patriots win.

"We support the commissioner and his findings," the Jets said in a statement.

who cares its only the partriots, when they win they come out saying their the best but when they lose the cry like a bunch of girls, and why are ppl so excitted the steelers beat the browns? the browns suck, wait till they play a halfway decent team then get excited.

LK i love ya buddy, but i think we might disagree on this issue...

Belichick is a cheater plain and simple in my book. There is a difference between looking across the field and trying to figure out the signals, and having people sneak around with video cameras.

Furthermore, there is good reason as far as i'm concerned for why the Patriots are the only team being singled out. They took it beyond the acceptable/unpreventable level of "if you're not cheating you're not trying" kinda stuff. They are suspected by many around the league of stealing/taking photos of teams playbooks and entire gameplans, not just stealing signals.

Lastly, after the punishments were announced, Bill Belichick's press conference was essentially a confession of guilt. It was pretty much identical to Mark Mcguire's talk with the supreme court. When people are innocent they are almost always eager to defend themselves and shout their innocence from the rooftops, guilty people lock it up and say "i'm moving on, we're looking ahead to the san diego chargers".

"well they didn't just beat them, they blew them the fu<k out...what more do you want!?"

again the browns suck, if it would of beena close game imo it would of shown the steelers weren't very good. and if thats considered a blow out why aren't ppl talking about the indy saints game, indy wooped their azz, yet ppl aren't getting excited.

I'm not excited about Indy winning because I hate Peyton and they're expected to win. Pitt is being led by a new coach with a QB still trying to prove himself. Parker may be fast but IMO isn't a blow through RB, something they lost in Bettis' retirement. I was born in Pitt so I will always be happy with a win, even over the Browns. The weight of losing to them would be far greater than winning.

Now the Packers over the Eagles was a weird one to watch. Both offenses sucked and it was funny to see Brett so proud of his win (even though it was tying a record). Personally I think Donovan has this season to pull his career out of the dumpster or it's "no soup for you!".

The Pats caught cheating? Like everyone said it's not just them it's everyone. All teams were issued the warning and Bill's team was picked to set an example. He was fined a half a million? So he'll have to survive on $3.7 mil this year. My heart bleeds. The team's owner has a net worth of over a billion $$$. This $250,000 is merely a parking ticket.

now stop the whining...your team and all teams go the same thing....U better get some CHEESE to go with that whine...

what I found interesting is that it was the Jets (yep another NY sports rival) and their coach Eric Mangini , who coached UNDER Belicheck for 6 years, who notified the commissioners office..

Don't tell me Mangini didn't do the same thing with Belicheck and Parcells...and the Jets and ALL other teams are not doing the same thing all the time!

Head Coach: Eric Mangini

Pro Career: Eric Mangini was named the 14th full-time head coach of the New York Jets on Jan. 17, 2006. He rejoins the Jets following six seasons with the New England Patriots (2000-05), the first five of which he served as the defensive backs coach before earning a promotion to the defensive coordinator's position.

Mangini, a coaching veteran of 14 seasons, is entering his 12th season in the NFL and his first as a head coach. He has been a part of five division titles, three conference titles, and three Super Bowl championships in his career.

In his first five seasons with the Patriots, he tutored a secondary that earned five Pro Bowl selections and evolved into one of the NFL's most successful defensive backfields despite suffering numerous injuries.

Prior to joining the Patriots, Mangini served as an assistant on Bill Parcells' coaching staff with the Jets (1997-1999), where he worked primarily as the defensive assistant/quality control coach. During that time, he worked closely with Bill Belichick, who was the Jets' assistant head coach/secondary coach. Mangini was also responsible for advance opponent film breakdowns and analysis.

the bears could make it but they won't win, espically if they play the pats, the only way they even have a chance is if their offense gets a lot better, or the pats defense will pick them apart.

Ask the same question to every other coach in the NFL...and all of them cheat, its allowed!...new rule, u can't cheat with a camera, thats all...NO BIGGIE...just the NY media made it a big deal, since it was the Patriots..

Also I don't call that "cheating"...like in the military, its called "reconnaissance", and the police call it "surveillance"....

Don't let LK fool you chad, the pats cheated. What they did was NOT something all teams do, they were not punished arbitrarily. I will not say they aren't a great team, i will not say this takes away from superbowl wins or anything like that, but they cheated. LK is blinded by the love he has for his team, i forgive you LK

coach said it was a misinterpretation of the rule... NO CAMERAS ON THE FIELD. hmmmmm.....lol
Maybe he thought he couldnt watch offensive signals???
Every cheater has their arguments on why they didnt cheat. I dont think they needed to do it, maybe they thought they were above the law. Agree or disagree, this will put an astrick next to their names. It will follow them forever.

BOX SCORE: Patriots 38, Bills 7

Larry Weisman, USA TODAY
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- They come in all shapes and sizes, with varying degrees of experience, speed and quickness.
They are plentiful. Productive. Even prolific. The New England Patriots collected receivers in the offseason and continue to reap the bounty.

No two could be more different than 6-4 Randy Moss, mercurial but spectacular, and 5-9 Wes Welker, stubby but studly.

With Moss catching two touchdown passes and Welker igniting the return game, the New England Patriots (3-0) ripped the Buffalo Bills 38-7. Moss caught five passes for 115 yards, Welker a team-high six for 69, and the Patriots scored 38 points for the third time this season.

Tom Brady passed for 311 yards and four touchdowns in hitting eight receivers, none more often than Welker and Moss.

"We all just feed off each other," says Welker. "A lot of unselfishness goes into it. Everybody knows they're going to get opportunities, and you make the most of them when you get them."

Moss didn't hang around to chat, but his numbers said enough.

• He posted his third consecutive 100-yard receiving game, making him the first player in NFL history to do so in his first three games with a team.

• He had his fourth and fifth TD receptions of the season, topping his season total of three last year with the Oakland Raiders.

• He became the 19th player in NFL history to exceed 11,000 career receiving yards

For all U Dishnet TV people...heres every game and their Dishnet channel...if U have 1 dish with 2 LNB's (110-119) which is a very common Dishnet install setup, U can watch almost every game, every week.....pretty close to the NFL ticket..

un-fu<king-believable. The Bills had 5 interceptions, 2 of them returned for tds, 1 kickoff returned for a td, 1 or 2 forced/recovered fumbles, and they lost. offense managed 1 lousy field goal in a 25-24 loss. The bills should've had 35+ points on the board.

as far as MNF goes, wow. just wow. classic Bret Favre moment in OT. 82 yard TD pass to win it on what was, if i remember correctly, the first play in overtime. as much of a packer hating Bears fan as i am, i can't help but love Bret Favre.

Lower Merion police reported that an individual attempted to "egg" Andy Reid's house last night.
The report stated; An empty egg carton was recovered at the scene. Three eggs went over his house and hit his neighbor's back door, four eggs hit the houses of each of his next-door neighbors, and the remaining eggs were found broken on the ground near the carton from where the individual threw them. Strangely, Reid's house wasn't actually hit by any of the eggs.

Police officials say they are considering Donovan McNabb as the primary suspect.

i got that same e-mail after the Bills/Cowboys monday night debacle but it was Romo instead of McNabb and the Cboys head coach (forget his name) instead of andy reid.

speaking of andy reid, sucks to hear about his kids getting caught with all kinds of heroin and syringes and pills and sh!t...i really wish the media would leave that sh!t alone instead of spending every second talking about how he SHOULD BE raising his kids and SHOULD BE taking a leave of absence and stuff, as if we have any idea what's really going on and what his family's situation is.

For those Reid fans out there I feel bad because his children aren't children anymore, they're adults. I heard they found drugs on his son IN jail. That means he snuck them in. Who has the balls to try that?

Maybe Reid should've spent more time with them and maybe they just couldn't handle it. At the very least he should be grateful he isn't facing what Tony Dungy did.

I can't believe Reid spending more time with them would've changed much or will change much in the future. These boys are what like 21 and 23 years old or something? They're adults. And they were caught with quantities and supplies which indicate they were supplying not just using, they're out thinking they'r bada$ses and sh!t, they make their own decisions. If anything Reid woulda maybe caught them? and then what? they get kicked outta the house and break more laws and slide deeper into sh!t to support their habits?

i just think it's wayyyy too complex a situation for people who don't know the family to speculate, and he seems like such a good guy, i feel for him.

I'm VERY happy that the Pats won (24-20)...BUT, I thought BOTH teams sucked today!....the Pats "D" was awful...and the officiating was the worse I've ever seen....I honestly didn't think the Pats were going to pull it off, and its not a W, that I would be proud of...I give the Colts credit for outplaying the Pats, except in the red zone, and Manning's last HUGE mistake...Good to know that the Pats have a Bye week coming up, they need it...I still don't see an undefeated season, especially if they play again , like they did today..I don't see them losing at home, but wouldn't be shocked if they got upset by Baltimore or the Giants away...

Also if I were a league official, I'd be doing some investigating of the officials/refs today....no team of refs could honestly blow that many calls... I'm not a believer of fixed NFL games, but something was not right with them today..

I agree LK, the Colts were just SAD in the red zone on the first 2 possessions, they shoulda gotten out to an early lead. I look at the steelers and giants as the most likely to beat em.

what calls do you think they missed? I've been writing a philosphy of religion paper all day so i didn't have 100% focus on the game, but i dont remember any controversy on calls???

What I saw were over 9-10 bad calls...2 pass interferences against the Pats, many bad ball spots, lack of holding calls, lack of pass interference by the Colts, lack of illegal block calls, favorable calls for Colts cornerbacks,...just too many various calls the entire game.. and I really hate complainers about bad calls but this game was ridiculous...reminded me of the NBA refs, and their lack of rules enforcement...very one sided game by the refs...I knew in the beginning, when a Colts receiver who CLEARLY stepped out of bounds during a reception and it was NOT called , until the Pats threw the flag in, that the game was going to be an obvious 1 sided view by the refs..especially after the favorable ball spot for a 1st down in their first possesion..

MIAMI (AP) -- Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor died early Tuesday, a day after the Pro Bowl player was shot at home by what police say was an intruder. He was 24.

Family friend Richard Sharpstein said Taylor's father told him the news around 5:30 a.m.

"His father called and said he was with Christ and he cried and thanked me," said Sharpstein, Taylor's former lawyer. "It's a tremendously sad and unnecessary event. He was a wonderful, humble, talented young man, and had a huge life in front of him. Obviously God had other plans."

Taylor died at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he had been airlifted after the shooting early Monday, Sharpstein said.

Two carloads of mourners, including Taylor's father, arrived at the house Tuesday morning. They remained inside and did not speak to reporters. A single bouquet of flowers was left by a palm tree just outside a front gate. Beside the mailbox, an untouched newspaper lay with news of Taylor's shooting.

Doctors had been encouraged late Monday when Taylor squeezed a nurse's hand, according to Vinny Cerrato, the Redskins' vice president of football operations. But Sharpstein said he was told Taylor never regained consciousness after being transported to the hospital and that he wasn't sure how he had squeezed the nurse's hand.

"Maybe he was trying to say goodbye or something," Sharpstein said.

Taylor, the fifth overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft following an All-American season at the University of Miami, was shot early Monday in the upper leg, damaging an artery and causing significant blood loss.

"According to a preliminary investigation, it appears that the victim was shot inside the home by an intruder," Miami-Dade County police said in a statement.

But police were still investigating the attack, which came just eight days after an intruder was reported at Taylor's home. Officers were sent to the home about 1:45 a.m. Monday after Taylor's girlfriend called 911.

Sharpstein said Taylor's girlfriend told him the couple was awakened by loud noises, and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Sharpstein said. Taylor's 1-year-old daughter, Jackie, was also in the house, but neither she nor Taylor's girlfriend were injured.

Police found signs of forced entry, but have not determined if they were caused Monday, or the previous burglary.

The shooting happened in the pale yellow house he bought two years ago. Eight days before the attack someone pried open a front window, rifled through drawers and left a kitchen knife on a bed at Taylor's home, according to police.

"They're really sifting through that incident and today's incident," Miami-Dade Detective Mario Rachid said, "to see if there's any correlation."

Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor (21) meets with some children after practice at the NFL football team's training camp at Redskins Park in Ashburn, Va., in this Aug. 2, 2007 file photo. Taylor died early Tuesday Nov. 27, 2007, a day after he was shot at home by what police say was an intruder. He was 24.

Born April 1, 1983, Taylor starred as a running back and defensive back at Gulliver Prep in Miami. His father, Pedro Taylor, is police chief of Florida City.

A private man with a small inner circle, Taylor rarely granted interviews. But, behind the scenes, Taylor was described as personable and smart -- an emerging locker room leader.

"From the first day I met him, from then to now, it's just like night and day," Redskins receiver James Thrash said Monday. "He's really got his head on his shoulders and has been doing really well as far as just being a man. It's been awesome to see that growth."

After Taylor was drafted, problems soon began. Taylor fired his agent, then skipped part of the NFL's mandatory rookie symposium, drawing a $25,000 fine. Driving home late from a party during the season, he was pulled over and charged with drunken driving. The case was dismissed in court, but by then it had become a months-long distraction for the Redskins.

Taylor also was fined at least seven times for late hits, uniform violations and other infractions over his first three seasons, including a $17,000 penalty for spitting in the face of Tampa Bay running back Michael Pittman during a 2006 playoff game.

Meanwhile, Taylor endured a yearlong legal battle after he was accused in 2005 of brandishing a gun at a man during a fight over allegedly stolen all-terrain vehicles near Taylor's home. He eventually pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors and was sentenced to 18 months' probation.

Taylor said the end of the assault case was like "a gray cloud" being lifted. It was also around the time that his daughter was born, and teammates noticed a change.

"It's hard to expect a man to grow up overnight," said teammate and close friend Clinton Portis, who played with Taylor at Miami. "But ever since he had his child, it was like a new Sean, and everybody around here knew it. He was always smiling, always happy, always talking about his child."

On the field, Taylor's play was often erratic. Assistant coach Gregg Williams frequently called Taylor the best athlete he'd ever coached, but nearly every big play was mitigated by a blown assignment. Taylor led the NFL in missed tackles in 2006 yet made the Pro Bowl because of his reputation as one of the hardest hitters in the league.

This year, however, Taylor was allowed to play a true free safety position, using his speed and power to chase down passes and crush would-be receivers. His five interceptions tie for the league lead in the NFC, even though he missed the last two games because of a sprained knee.

"I just take this job very seriously," Taylor said in a rare group interview during training camp. "It's almost like, you play a kid's game for a king's ransom. And if you don't take it serious enough, eventually one day you're going to say, 'Oh, I could have done this, I could have done that.'

"So I just say, 'I'm healthy right now, I'm going into my fourth year, and why not do the best that I can?' And that's whatever it is, whether it's eating right or training myself right, whether it's studying harder, whatever I can do to better myself."

His hard work was well-noted.

"He loved football. He felt like that's what he was made to do," Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said. "And I think what I've noticed over the last year and a half ... is he matured. I think his baby had a huge impact on him. There was a real growing up in his life."

[Patriots' historic game to be available to all of America, after all

Associated Press
On NFL Network ...
Patriots at Giants
Sat., Dec. 29, 8 p.m. ET

NEW YORK -- The New England Patriots' shot at history Saturday night will be available for every household in the country with a television after months of wrangling.

The game against the New York Giants, in which the Patriots could become the first NFL team to go 16-0 in the regular season, was originally scheduled to be shown only on the NFL Network, which is available in fewer than 40 percent of the nation's homes with TVs.

But the league announced Wednesday that the NFL Network feed will be simulcast on NBC and CBS. It's a major concession by league officials, who repeatedly said they would not show the game anywhere but the NFL Network. The NFL had faced mounting pressure from politicians in recent weeks to make the game available to more viewers.

This will be the first three-network simulcast in NFL history and the first simulcast of any kind of an NFL game since the first Super Bowl in 1967, when CBS and NBC both televised the first meeting of the champions of the newly merged National Football League and American Football League.
