I'm looking at buying a cheap laptop, that runs fairly fast. Im gonna buy it form Future Shop since I have a $100 gift card, what do you guys think of this

not a fan of gateway I prefer Acer,Asus,Tohsiba,sony

Acer is my fav though you can get a good laptop off of www.tigerdirect.com

Mostly school work, and work, need a fast internet connection. I will be using programs like quickbooks, and excel a lot.

the internet connection depends on your server not the CPU. That CPU is plenty for what you need it for.

i just don't like gateway i don't think they make good quality computers and i think if ur gunna buy a laptop for what your lookin for you really don't need everything there you can get a good laptop for around $399-$499 that will do what you want it to just fine. but buying a gateway is like buyin a turd, thats my view anyway have had a lot of friends and family have bad luck with them. but hell people diss sony and I've had mine for 3 years now with no problems so maybe its luck of the draw.

I honestly didnt even realize it was a gateway, I just looked at specs. I have heard a few horror stories about them aswell but then again I have about Dell also and I have 3 of them and they are all great.

yes its a refurb, but i've got 3 years warranty with it, and thats problably all i'll keep it for.

what does the warranty cover? parts and labor or just parts?

Parts and labour, it takes over from the factory warranty, so even if something goes wrong during the factory warranty, Future Shop will still fix it.
