I checked the hibernate situation and it was turned off.
So, I attached another monitor and it also went black.
I then restarted and pressed f-8 to find that it came up in dos ok...
I deduced it could either be an overheat problem or a program problem.
Either way there was a problem with the video card.
I shut down the laptop, took out the battery, removed both 1 gb rams, exchanged positions, plugged in a/c power, and restarted. still black.
I then removed one card, restarted, still black.
I then exchanged them, and restarted...and it worked.
I then double checked to make sure it wasn't just the card slot (it wasn't)
One card doesn't work at all.
I will purchase another 1 gb simm asap.
Problem solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pass this one on!!!!!!!
