Video cards for Dell Desktops

I want to connect this pc to my Sony 60" rptv. The tv is capable of 1080p resolution. I heard that getting a video card capable of dvi output could be plugged into the tv through a dvi-HDMI cable. Would this setup allow me to get really high resolution on the tv screen? Thanks, Stefan
