I bought it. Then I compared looked at the specs of the Sound blaster audigy2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102178 then got kinda un-comfortable when I noticed this board has "Hardware Decoder" Dolby Digital EX 6.1 in its specs and mine didn't. OK.. so it comes down to seeing what somebody out there that REALLY KNOWS has to say about my setup and what the difference comes out to being. OK... my board doesn't have a decoder... but I am putting the optical out into my Yamaha rx-V2500.. So tell me ... as far as games, movies, whatever it may be that comes from that sound card and into my Yamaha... doesn't the fact my yamaha has the processors make it plausible to say that since both cards have the same sampling rate of 192Khz and both are 24-bit.... that I'm am NOT missing out on ANYTHING atall since I am connecting it to my reciever and the reciever does the work the decoder in the Audigy.. there is no sound quality or surround detail loss in my case....???? Furthermore can it be said that the audigy can only exhibit true benefit in surround for a user that doesn't run the outputs through a reciever in comparison vs the CHaintech card, considering the absence of a reciever also in that setup? Thanks... |
