im new to computers,and i just bought a 200gig hard drive with 7200 rpm by maxtor for 30$ at staples. i went there at 6am to get it. was it worth it? i actually paid $70 but theres a 40 mail in rebate.

Hmmmm - i don't know about them hugh drives .

Last yr i bought 4 160gig Maxtors & they crashed like crazy ! even if u put 3 partitions on it the 1st partitions always crash & was really @#$!ing annoying . Takes a long while to full 1 & when it crashes - u wanna kill uself ...lol

I returned em all & got some 120 gig Seagate Barracudas & no problemo since . A friend also told me he had the very same problems with any h.drive over 120 so he too runs 120 as his maximum size ............

Sounds like you just got a bad drive to begin with Rovin. Maxtor is pretty reliable...at leat the ones I worked with.
