i'm a drummer moving to a new place and gona isolate a room in there. it's gona be 12x13ft cieling height 9ft. i found the rockwool insulation material with some sheetblock. i hear i gota have gypsum boards and an air separation. i would like any feedback on this. my main concerns are the doors and the ceiling. it's gona be hard to have a nice air separatoin up there with no risk of the lower ceiling falling. anyone can lead me to a good way to do it right? is there good faq material on doin this?

i don't know much about "rooms within rooms" except that many studios seperate their subfloors using hockey pucks.

if you're looking for isolation, then you'd need some dense energy dissipating material to dampen sound. some in room treatment to dampen reflections would help too.

if you're going to properly isolate a room, be prepared to spend some money.

Why don''t you check the cork material walls used in radio stations...they sure work.

Good luck
