Do speaker wire ends help or hurt sound

I just bought my HTIB and am getting ready to buy speaker wire and wanted to know if adding ends to my speaker wire for easier connection to the speakers and receiver helped or hurt the sound quality.

My rear speakers are 35 feet from my reciever...should I use 14 or 16 gauge wires??

35 feet. You should try and get 18 gauge.

No audible benefit from speaker wire ends.
16 gauge is fine.

But is there any negective effects from banana clips or similar ends? I guess what I'm saying is, is it a better practice to install the speaker wire directly into the speakers or install an end for a better connection?

Speaker connectors are purely a matter of convienence to allow for a "neater" connection instead of bare exposed wire. These connectors, banana, spade, pins and others will not hurt or "weaken" the connection but they won't enhance the performance of it either. E. Ramsey AAS industrial electronics.
