its called kerfing. basically you just calculate the amount of bend you want and then make some cuts in the wood where you want the port but only go like 3/4 threw the wood and take it easy and bend it. definatly practice it first. if your really interested i can get you more details if you cant find any.

the forum that had the post that told you how to do all of that is either down or compleatly gone.

after you find where you want the bend to start, you just cut the inside and however you space the cuts it what determins the bend. i THINK 1/2" spacing will give you 4" of flare but i dont remember for sure ill look later tonight when i have more time for it.
