Windows media player shows blank screen when displayed on TV

Hi all, I am connecting a laptop (dell inspiron 4000 with an ATI mobility 3 video card) to the TV and everything seems to work great until I open windows media player. When the video is being played I can see the whole screen on the TV but windows media player looks blank. When I look at the laptop it is playing fine. I tried downloading the latest video drivers from Dell but their latest drivers are from 2002. ATI didn't seem to have mobility 3 drivers.

Any ideas?

i have a geforce 4 in one of my computers and on my gameing computer i have dual n6600gts in it and there both nvidia and to set the resolution for the tv i beleive you must run i the card in clone mode which allows the card to show the desktop on both the computer and the tv. try running the tv wizard if the card allows you to do that im not real familiar with ati never really like them but the setup should be the same. im not sure if this helps but you can email me and give me the details step by step or post them here cause im sure everyone will respond.

Windows media player has a bug in it. id say 90% of the time you wonot be able to get it to work on externial monitors, tv's etc. Make sure its current. Media player 10 dosent have this problem that much. Also clone screens dont work well with windows media player. Dual view, etc does. As long as its not on 2 screens at once it should play alright. Ive ran into this problem alot, so just be patient. Update your drivers as wel. sometimes this fixes it asap.

I had a similar problem and had to enable Theater Mode to resolve it. Here's the related ATI knowledge base article:

This media player is not working properly. It is showing Canon Printer Paper Jamhttps://errorcode0x.com/fix-canon-printer-paper-jam/ error. Do you have any idea to fix this issue?
