Today is the 50th anniversary of "Yuri Gagarin" Russia first man shot into space on April 12th 1957 to read more here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuri_Gagarin

Thou I was born nearly a full ten years later I kinder missed the dawn of the "space race" but that doesn't mean the later missions of Apollo Skylab space shuttle Mir and the ISS as affected me over the course of time.

Do you realize how much space junk is floating around still up there? What doesn't fall back to earth makes it increasingly dangerous to our sats and future shuttles. When I see a shooting star I wonder if it's just another wrench.
