Hi John I am also in Australia and have just unlocked the same model dvd player to wach dvds from the UK it was quite simple when i finnaly found out what to do, just open the the dvd tray turn the power on and then press the number 0 on your remote 7 times and a message should come up asking you to put the region number you want in, press 0 again then it should tell you to press pause to continue, it should now be reigon free.

Region Unlock Code for LG DP181 and LG DP170 ( i think this will work for all LG DP portable DVD series...try

open lid and Power on (make sure no disk inside). wait for loading disc icon displayed on screen, then Press 0 (zero) three times on your remote before No-Disc message appear on screen. Enter 0 to make it region free and confirm your selection by pressing the PAUSE button.
