I cant find settings in the control panel. Do you think the adware search would have screwed with the settings somehow?

try right click on the screen and go to properties, it may be there.
And under mouse settings, see if there anything there that will help.

After doing further researach, I have determined that the manufacturer for your touchpad is Synapics, which is the same as my laptop.

If you want to access the Touchpad settings, you need to go to
C:\program files\Synaptics\SynTP

If you formatted, i expect that the Synaptics application is not there any more, but if your touchpad works, then the application must be in the C:\program files\Synaptics\ directory

Check this site, or phone Dell support. Maybe they can send you or link you to the download site for the Synaptics application.

thanks Marc I think after messing around with it what I am gonna have to do is unintall it, and then go to the synaptics website and redownload it.

that link is just for dell laptops. Downloading a fix may cause more damage if its not for your make of laptop.

Yes, thats the simplest. In all honesty, Post in the comp section, Also list the model/make. That link was just random.

Try a google for "(Insert make/model) touchpad settings"

Sadly, posting in the comp section will get you a response in like two days, if that!

doing the system restore may have brought back the viruses too.
If you run the spybot and adaware again and it happens again, you may need to just reinstall the drivers for the touchpad again. Savea copy of them in a folder on the desk top and you can restore them to the program files from there. Or uncheck them during the scan to leave alone, providing you know what files they are. Glad to hear its working again for you. Also, dontforget the clean out your browser. Temp internet files, cookies, and browsing history on a regular basis.
