Recently my comp has been shutting down on it's own. So first thing that came to mind was a virus. I ran AVG and cleaned all the threats it found. Just for the heck of it I reloaded Windows XP, now for some reason I can't get any sound but the comp has stopped shutting down by itself. The drivers for my sound card are installed but for some weird reason an exclamation mark in control panels appears and disappears sporadically in that category. Another weird thing is when I try to update to the newest driver from the manufacturer it will show an error msg saying it can't find my sound card. Any help is greatly appreciated. This might sound dumb but I'm actually losing a bit of sleep over it lol. If it is a virus that someone is familiar with please tell me a way to remove it, hopefully someway free since I don't have the money to purchase a new antivirus
