can go bad in 2 seconds..they go bad often...connecting and disconnecting cables while receiver powered will often blow the LNB..and moisture, and weather will ruin a switch easily...they should be kept inside attic or in tupperware container, if outside..always keep a spare, they are ONLY $5..

pansat switches are the same as ariza neusat/sat pro they cost around 65cents per one to make. They can last as long as they are in good shape the water/moisture is the biggest problem. in door or outdoor water will makes way into the switch if it is not protected so you tape up all ends covering and protecting the switch. The switches can die from power but it is uncommon and unlikly due to the receiver adjusting the power based on what it can handel.

tape tape tape and it will live for years.

use the black or gray type of tape the clear types will more less not keep away moisture.
