Bottoming out

aight the other day i was listening to a bass check it was just on a cd and im pretty sure i bottomed out because my sub mad a weird slap nosie alot of times fast i was just wanding if that was bad on my sub and i was wandering how low that got i have a kicker L7 (2005) in a ported box tuned to 40 hz.

yes...that is VERY bad for your sub. it could litterally rip itself apart if it does that.

if your box is tuned to 40hz, make sure your SSF is set around 35hz.

btw...40hz is kinda a high tuning for daily listining.

yeah my ssf is set to 35 and i wanted SPL not sq so i tuned it to 40 hz.

a 40hz box in care actually tunes lower...as with any box. 40hz isn't high!!!!! lol

maybe for rap 40hz is high....but not for rock.:-)

i listen to rap and rock and my box is tuned at 40hz, both sound great, although i noticed mine bottoming out just a little bit, just on this one song.not bad, just a little, and i couldnt notice it from inside the car, but only when i went out and opened the trunk
