I want to hook up a 250 watt amplifier to my computer to run 2 125 watt speakers. The amplifier has the regular red and white inputs, but my computers sound card only has a digital audio output. Would i use a regular 1 male to 2 male y'ed rca cable or do i need an adapter to convert the digital signal to analog? I couldnt find any digital cables that split the signal so im really not sure what to do. any help is appreciated, thanks.

You cannot use digital output to connect to analog inputs on an amplifier. You would need to convert the signals to analog first.

What about the output for powered speakers?

If you have those you can use a stereo plug to RCA adaptors and connect them to your amplifier.
