Will a Cable TV Amplifier Help Picture?

I bring in a cable line from outside which has both digital and analog cable on it. I split it two ways with a Monster Splitter at the start and the picture is fine on the analog channels. By the time I get to the TV after the VCR with one coaxial split and to the TV after the digital box for the other split. Some of my analog channels have decreased dramatically. Will a Bidirectional Cable/TV Amplifier for One TV from Radio Shack for $30 help this? Will a Recoton V310UL UHF/VHF/FM Signal Amplifier, $15 at Best Buy, help this?

Thanks. Do you know of any products like this that are a tad less expensive? I saw a bi-directional amp at Radio Shack for $30, but I doubt it is very powerful.

Thanks again.

Berny,

Thanks again. I found the one you bought for $41 on the net, but you have to pay shipping and at Circuit City for $80. I will search and hopefully find a deal on the Motorola. Thanks for all of your help.

Cheers

Get it from the cable company for free. If the signal is not strong enough from outside than they should fix it or provide an amp. Normaly they have enough signal to support 4 outlets, i.e a 4 way splitter.

The motorola doesn't work on high channels (up to 1000 mhz only). The recoton doesn't work on low channels (above 950 mhz only). Anyone know of a product that covers both ends of the spectrum?

The vdm-1001 is unidirectional, which is fine if you only use use the line for CATV. If you use the line for data as well, you need to get something bidirectional

What type of amplifier is ok for a setting in which video from a svideo output from a video card is being outputed to a VCR which then is outputed through the VCR RF/Coax line to all the other TV's on the coax in the house.

Hope someone can help.
Thanks.

checked out the site and you must buy from local retail store, put my state and county in and found their products are sold in Home Depot.

Think I'll pass on the vdm-1001, I hate Home Depot and the last thing I'd ever buy from them is something electronic, I could swear they sell seconds, many things I bought had to be returned cause it was defective.
