Can I use existing "F" coax cable for digital audio?

I have a computer in a home office, and a receiver in the family room. My home has existing "F" coax cable network (the kind used by digital cable or satellite), with one of the circuits not used at the moment. Can I use adapters to send digital audio from my computer (RCA connector) through this F connector coax, and another adapter at the other end to connect to my receiver's RCA digital audio? I guess that the in-wall cable run is 30 -- 40 feet, and I'm not sure how close it runs to the home's electrical cables.
