DVC hook up - bridge, or channel per voice coil?

Hi, I was wondering if you have a dual voice coil sub, and a 2 channel amp, would it be louder if you wired one channel to one coil, or just run it bridged. a specific example would be an alpine type R pushed by an alpine 2/1 ch. mrv-t757. right now i have it bridged to the amp. (the sub is a dvc 2ohm/voice coil. it equals a 4 ohm load wired in series...the amp is rated at 4 ohms)what are the ups and downs of each of these wiring schemes? thank you.
