Need help with box build for 4 alpine type r 12"

i've built plenty of sealed boxes but not vented. the room i have to work with is 42" across 20" high and 30" deep. its a 98 jeep grand cherokee and im going for sql, im wanting the box to be tuned to 30hz. i listen to rap mostly but a litle of everything. how do i figure out what size & length to make the vent.

how do i figure out the internal box volume of a box that is 42x20x30.

well with that much cuft i could get 6 12"s in that size box. it would be tight though,but i think i could pull it off.what do you think

4 12s is plenty loud


if its a ported box remember subs & port\s occupy space too so take that into account ...

I wouldn't force it. You have about 12cuft net. A single twelve would (typically) need just about 2-2.5cuft after sub and port displacement. If you are set on 12's I would do 4 twelves and call it a day or if you want to step up a level, you could do 2 15's. Just because you have the space doesn't mean you have to use it.

4 12"s in a correctly sized box > 6 12"s in a small box

ok thats a good point.i dont have the power to push 6 any way.
