Sub for 2007 ranger

I am looking to get a single 10 inch possibly 12 inch subwoofer for my 07 ford ranger extended cab pickup. Just hoping to get some true info on a great setup, I don't trust anybody at places like a&b sound or anything because I have had a few systems based on thier knowledge and wasnt impressed. will consider buying used. Anything would help, thank you

(meaning buying a high output alternator, etc.) or if staying stock, what's the size of the alt.? are you going for sq (sound quality), spl (just loud with little or no sq), or sql (good mix of both sq and spl)? budget for everything you need (sub, amp, box)? do you know the space you have to work with?

And the space isn't too big, as the floor lifts up in the middle. Thats why i was thinking a 10 inch
